Today is the last week of our bottle biome observation, and I would like to conclude that our plants won’t be able to live any longer. I’ve looked at my friend’s biome bottle and it was very healthy and green, in fact, it was the healthiest. I’ve compared mine to her and the rest of the classes’ and I’ve found that she was the only one who used dirt under her water, and everyone else’s were rocks. Even though her water with the dirt was very dirty, dirtiest, her plants was able to live the healthiest, and green-est. It was not like ours, which was thin, and not green at all, even if our water was still clear.

Plants look weaker, they’re not standing up straight anymore, some are stuck to the bottle and the other ones are just dropped down to the ground because they are too thin. Water is becoming less which means the dirt is conserving it correctly, and the light source is still the same as everyone else’s.

I don’t know what happened to some of the plants, some looks very thin but was still noticeable, but the other ones are almost invisible and it looks like there are lesser plants as weeks go by. Everything else still looks the same, water is still clean with rocks under it, and also, there are more noticeable bugs now. I’m starting to think that the bugs are somewhat eating the plants, I have not identify what kind of bugs they are, but I’m pretty positive it was the bugs.

Plants definitely grew around 1 or 2 inches more, but it keeps getting thinner, even though everything looks right and was done correctly according the directions. I start noticing that there are little white bugs crawling around in the dirt.

Our plants got a lot taller compared to the last 2 weeks, but also thinner. They are around an inch or 1 inch and half now, and they look very healthy to me. Yarn is completely soaked with water, and the top of the bottle that has the plants in it, is soggy and looks humid.

It’s the second week and I can see that the little leaves are still pretty short, but they have definitely grown over the past week. I don’t think it’s growing at its natural rate, but I couldn’t find anything wrong with the dirt or water. Our biome bottle was put under the same light source as everyone else’s, so maybe it was supposed to look like that.

Today was first day of the bottle biome observation after we used 2 empty soda bottles to create a bottle biome, and contain it with dirt, a yarn through a cap so the dirt can pick up water sources, and seeds planted inside the dirt. I can see little green leaves poking through the dirt, not much, but pretty noticeable.

Today our class was divided in two different groups, and our task to create a DragonFly Pond town. Our group’s town has the pond in the middle for access for everyone, a park and farms right on top of the lake. Houses, grocery stores, gas stations, and etc. are on the same sides, because we understand that residents wouldn’t like to drive all the way across the lake just for groceries or gas. Bleach factories are placed far off the town and away from the water to make sure there are no pollution in the air or water for the safety of our residents. Dry cleaner is located at the opposite side at the lake from the houses, because we don’t want any washing water to be in our resident’s drinking water. And lastly, there are highways leading to the the factory and business building, etc. through to the lake.
